Merry Christmas

Holiday Blues - Holiday Blessings

For unto us a Child is Born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Celebrating the birth of our Savior is what Christmas is all about. Yet, celebrating Christmas is something some cannot even think about or want to do. Understandable. Many are going through very difficult times, illness, loss of a loved one, broken relationships, financial hardship, addiction, depression, anxiety and hopelessness. The reason we get to a point where we don’t want to celebrate is because we look at our circumstances. There is too much pain, too much sorrow, too much hopelessness. In all of this if we choose to look at Jesus, we may find the reason to celebrate.

When we celebrate His birth, we can see that we have a Wonderful Counselor who can help us, for He is the full counsel of God…talk to Him. We have a Mighty God who will strengthen us, He is mighty to save. We have an Everlasting Father, He is always there by our side never leaves us. We have the Prince of Peace. Jesus reconciles us to God and brings peace to our hearts. Jesus, is the light of world. Look for His glory in your gloom. Then you will find a reason to celebrate His birth. He is our Savior, He loves us, and He is our hope.

If you don’t feel like celebrating it’s okay. It’s the hardest thing to do, when your circumstances are so dark, painful, and sorrowful. But you can find joy when you think about the blessing in the birth of Jesus. He came to save us from our sin so the we could be reconciled with to the Father. Matthew 1:21 “And she shall will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from theirs ins.” This is why we celebrate Christmas. We can have eternal life with the Father by believing and having faith in Jesus Christ. This is what brings us joy at this time of the year and everyday. The joy of the Lord is our strength.

Father, I pray for those of us that have a difficult time celebrating this joyous event. You know our pain and what it is that hinders us from being joyful at this time. Reveal Yourself to us, and bring comfort and peace, and may we feel the joy of the birth of Your Son, our Savior, who came to save us from our sin so that we could have eternal life with You. In Jesus name. Amen!
